Saturday afternoon 17 October

So off we went after lunch to Quelvehin Alpagas to see our dear friend Jayne and Steve - the alpacas, as usual looked wonderful in the field and Jayne and I got to talk fibre and patterns and workshops. Jayne has given me some wonderful fleece from Atlas to spin to make a beautiful woven scarf with plus other beautiful fleeces.

Caleb had a wonderful time courtesy of Jayne's kitchen and Steve very kindly taking him for a run wearing a Harley helmet on the Harley motorbike - Caleb is still talking about it now and it gave him an appetite for his McDonalds on the way home.

We scrumped some gorgeous apples that were just lying in the road on the way back from Pontivy and courtesy of Liddles and Noz I bought some lovely food -confitures and so on. I really will tidy up the garden tomorrow and who knows after the plant sale show I might actually feel like doing some more work in the garden.

Saturday 17 October

So another week of trying to get over the bronchitis but I am nearly there. I have lost heart in the garden but must not complain as the weather has been wonderful the sun keeps shining and we have had two beautiful frosty mornings this week. I really must make the Christmas Cake this Sunday and Mike is working away in the hallway putting skirting tiles along the bottom edge of the wall - bless him.

Caleb is glad to be 5 and happily playing on his Nintendo DS - and we are just plugging away at the renovations in the kitchen 3 walls lined now and as soon as I can I will post pictures. Finished another short scarf and now getting ready to start another.

We have been given a small Robspiere fire (1930's) this week so Mike is going to repair it and put it in my workroom - warmth at last.

I have now cut and figured out how to do Nicola's curtains to match the others - what a complicated way to make curtains - and I will make them next week. I am determined to finish my commissions this year. I am looking forward to spinning alpaca and weaving very shortly.

Its Monday yet another one when I do not have to get up and go to work and after 4 years I still am so happy at this thought - although at the end of the month a paycheque would be nice.

Had a good day yesterday our long term visitor left on Friday so the house has returned to as near as normal as our house can be. We had a good weekend friends came to Caleb's birthday party - Jess did the admirable food again. Yesterday we went to the brocante at Josselin and then had a lovely evening meal.

The evening was brightened up by a phone call from a Kate Brandt a lady I had met at Ploerdut in May when I was exposing at a medieval fete.

Well well doesn't time fly

Its quite simple its a Sunday afternoon and I decided with just some time to spare that I would try again to write my blog - its only been over 2 years (well over).

Well the house is not finished - life has taken over in more ways than one in the intervening period I have had sheep (22 of them) some of which were adorable Suffolks. My daughter and husband were of the most marvellous help - Jess is a natural shepherdess and could be found at all times of day and night in the sheep sheds when the five ewes were lambing - 10 lambs between them - one died at birth and one 4 weeks later - anyway we managed find homes (again with Jess's help) for all of them - so now there are none. It became financially unviable to keep them and also Mike's back just could not take the strain of lifting, rolling and injecting and sorting feet on a regular basis.

I am still trying to find time to spin enough to weave a blanket. Caleb (my grandson) is 5 tomorrow and I have to press on - Bear the collie is alive and well by and large, Poppy is Jess's dog and is well and I have little Millie a Lhasa Apso (with just one eye) who is absolutely lovely. We have 2 cats, 2 kittens (who need new homes) and lots of hens one of whom is a cockerel called Noel for obvious reasons.

I must go now as Jess is waiting for the computer.

Oh a dear friend Liz donated the most wonderful pumpkin for Jess to carve for Caleb for Halloween and my dear friend Jayne is doing so well with her spinning and knitting and alpacca rearing.

More later.
